CFC Recycling acquires Goolsby and Sons
CFC Recycling has expanded its footprint in Middle Tennessee with the acquisition of Goolsby & Sons Recycling. The deal, for which financial terms were not disclosed, will solidify CFC Recycling's presence in the region, building on Goolsby & Sons' established reputation in the Gallatin scrap metal market.
Goolsby & Sons, a family-owned scrap metal recycler in Gallatin, will continue its operations under the ownership of CFC Recycling, which is based in Tullahoma. The existing team at Goolsby & Sons will remain intact, now benefiting from CFC's broader resources, logistics, and operational capabilities. Andrew Rice, President of CFC Recycling, emphasized the company's intention to maintain Goolsby & Sons’ legacy while enhancing customer service and operational reliability.
The acquisition is strategically significant for CFC, as it aims to better meet the needs of Gallatin’s diverse customer base, which ranges from large-scale producers handling significant volumes of scrap to everyday customers recycling household metals. According to CFC Transportation President Alex Rice, the Gallatin facility will undergo renovations to upgrade customer services, with plans to initially close the site to the public during this period.
This transaction reflects broader trends in the recycling sector, where consolidation is driven by the need for operational efficiency and expanded service offerings. The acquisition positions CFC to capitalize on the growing demand for recycling services in the Middle Tennessee area, where Goolsby & Sons has already established a loyal customer base. Competitors in the sector may face intensified pressure to either expand their services or consolidate to maintain market share.
Looking ahead, the focus will be on how CFC integrates Goolsby & Sons into its operations and how the renovations will impact service delivery. Any potential regulatory scrutiny over the acquisition appears to be minimal given its focus on regional market expansion. However, the integration process will be key to realizing the full strategic benefits of the acquisition.
