Ecowaste Solutions acquires Adams Sanitation
Ecowaste Solutions, a Texas-based waste and recycling company, has acquired Adams Sanitation, a prominent waste hauler in Northwest Florida. The acquisition, which was publicly announced on May 1, consolidates Ecowaste’s operations along the Gulf Coast, creating a continuous service corridor from the Mississippi Gulf Coast to the Florida Panhandle. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Adams Sanitation, with its origins in Holt, Florida, operates one of the region's major waste collection enterprises. It provides solid waste collection services to approximately 29,000 residential customers across Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties, and it holds contracts with several municipalities and districts including Crestview, the Santa Rosa School District, and areas in Georgia and Columbia County, Florida. Following the acquisition, Crystal and Nathan Boyles, who have owned the company since 2018 and expanded its customer base and operations significantly, will see Adams Sanitation integrated into Ecowaste's operations. The existing CEO of Adams Sanitation will continue as a regional vice president within Ecowaste.
Ecowaste Solutions, headquartered in Coppell, Texas, operates in ten states across the South and Mid-South regions. CEO Dustin Reynolds noted the strategic significance of the acquisition, highlighting the existing relationships Adams Sanitation has cultivated with municipalities and its robust fleet and personnel. The deal aims to enhance Ecowaste's strategic positioning and expand its market penetration in the waste management sector throughout the Gulf Coast.
The acquisition required local government approvals due to Adams Sanitation's franchise agreements for waste collection services. On April 13, the Crestview City Council approved the transfer of its franchise agreement, entailing a $500,000 payment to the city. Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners similarly sanctioned the change for commercial services on April 7, although no similar financial provision was included for the county. Importantly, Crestview’s legal authorities assured there would be no immediate rate hikes for customers as a direct result of this change in ownership.
Looking ahead, the completion of this acquisition is pivotal for Ecowaste as it strengthens its Gulf Coast footing amid a competitive landscape. Moreover, the allocation of the $500,000 to community-oriented projects in Crestview exemplifies the ripple effects such deals can have on local development initiatives. Regulatory and operational integrations are expected to proceed as Ecowaste and Adams Sanitation align their operations under the new corporate structure.
