Staycity Group has announced the acquisition of its second site in Vienna, marking a strategic expansion in the Austrian capital. The new Staycity-branded aparthotel is slated for completion by 2028, following a significant redevelopment led by JP Immobilien's hospitality division, JP Hospitality. The move is part of Staycity's goal to consolidate its presence in Vienna and strengthen its foothold in the city’s hospitality market.

Details of the acquisition remain undisclosed, but the deal includes a 20-year lease for the site. The project will involve both new construction and the conversion of existing retail and office spaces. Once completed, the facility is expected to house up to 300 self-catering apartments, offering studios and one- and two-bedroom units. In addition to accommodation, the site will feature a gym, co-working spaces, a café bar, and underground parking. This initiative signals Staycity’s intent to not only expand its portfolio but also to elevate its brand within the aparthotel sector.

Andrew Fowler, chief development officer at Staycity Group, emphasized the significance of this partnership with JP Hospitality, describing it as a crucial step in advancing Staycity's interests in Vienna. He noted that this project would complement the company’s existing Wilde Vienna Fleischmarkt aparthotel and help reposition the Staycity Aparthotels brand. Daniel Jelitzka, JP Immobilien’s owner and managing partner, characterized the upcoming aparthotel as a “blue-chip hospitality asset,” highlighting the development’s appeal to core investors and its focus on economic and sustainability metrics.

The acquisition reflects a broader trend within the hospitality sector where major players are seeking to expand through strategic partnerships and redevelopments in prime locations. Staycity’s focus on Vienna underscores its commitment to capitalizing on the city’s visitor appeal and overall market stability. The move places Staycity in a competitive position against other operators in the region, which are also vying for dominance in the aparthotel industry.

Looking ahead, the project remains subject to regulatory approvals and planning permissions. The completion timetable targets 2028 for the operational launch, provided these hurdles are cleared. This acquisition is set to be a pivotal milestone in Staycity’s growth trajectory as it seeks to enhance its European footprint and strengthen its market positioning in key urban centers.
