RSL acquires Orlando City Soccer Club

Real Salt Lake has finalized a transaction involving its Paraguayan midfielder Braian Ojeda, transferring him to Orlando City SC in exchange for approximately $1.8 million in General Allocation Money (GAM) spread across the 2026 and 2027 seasons. The deal secures $650,000 for Real Salt Lake in each of the upcoming two years. Additionally, RSL stands to earn a further $475,000 contingent on performance-based milestones and retains a percentage of any future transfer revenue from Ojeda.

Braian Ojeda, 25, has been with Real Salt Lake since 2022, tallying 123 appearances across all competitions during his tenure with the club. In the 2025 season, he netted five of his career’s seven goals with the team, marking a prolific period that included key performances in the Leagues Cup. His notable contributions include a brace against Atlético San Luis and a decisive winner against Queretaro. Ojeda's departure comes as he prepares to participate in Paraguay's 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

The strategic decision to transfer Ojeda aligns with Real Salt Lake's financial management approach, allowing them to bolster their roster through increased allocation funds without immediate reliance on individual player performances.
