Vanguard Renewables acquires E-Z Recycling

Vanguard Renewables has acquired E-Z Recycling, a Minnesota-based company specializing in food and beverage waste recycling. The acquisition aims to bolster Vanguard's presence in the Midwest and integrate E-Z Recycling's depackaging capabilities into its anaerobic digestion network. This network is critical for converting food waste into renewable energy, aligning with the region's regulatory focus on reducing landfill waste.

Though the financial details remain undisclosed, the strategic move enables Vanguard Renewables to capitalize on Minnesota's significant food and beverage manufacturing sector. The state offers strong logistics infrastructure and policies that promote organics recycling. Vanguard Renewables already operates an anaerobic digestion facility in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and is developing another in Meeker County in collaboration with CenterPoint Energy. These facilities transform food waste into renewable natural gas, which is then distributed for local use.

E-Z Recycling, located in St. Paul, is notable for its depackaging capabilities, processing up to 125 tons of food waste daily, a figure expected to more than double due to recent upgrades. The facility offers 7,200 square feet of processing space and extensive storage capabilities, which will now complement Vanguard's operations. Andy Rausch, currently at the helm of E-Z Recycling, will continue as Principal Operations Manager, ensuring continuity in leadership and operational expertise.

Vanguard Renewables is expanding its organic recycling solutions across multiple U.S. regions. By integrating E-Z Recycling, the company enhances its service offerings and solidifies its commitment to sustainability and compliance.
