Cloneable raises $4.6M in Seed
Cloneable, a Raleigh-based startup applying artificial intelligence to automate workflows in heavy industries, has raised $4.6 million in seed funding. The round, led by Congruent Ventures, also saw participation from Bull City Venture Partners and St. Elmo Venture Capital. The funding, disclosed exclusively to Crunchbase News, brings Cloneable’s total financing to $5.35 million since it was founded earlier this year.
The firm develops AI systems that observe human specialists in sectors like energy and transform their processes into autonomous operational models. The concept emerged from co-founders' experiences addressing logistical bottlenecks while working on drone operations during California's 2019 wildfires. Faced with the challenge of scaling data review after deploying 150 drone pilots to inspect transmission lines, the founders identified an urgent need for a more automated solution.
Cloneable's technology aims to streamline operations in industries traditionally reliant on human expertise, potentially transforming efficiencies in areas such as infrastructure maintenance and inspection. By embedding expert processes into AI, Cloneable reduces the dependency on human operators for scalable solutions—a prospect likely to attract attention in sectors grappling with skilled labor shortages.
The funding occurs against a backdrop of increasing interest in AI applications within industrial settings, where reducing manual labor can lead to significant cost savings and enhanced operational safety. Competitors have also been securing investment as businesses seek to harness AI for industrial automation, highlighting the broader trend of AI's integration into traditional sectors.
Looking forward, Cloneable's immediate focus will likely be on scaling its technology and expanding market adoption. While regulatory environments can pose challenges in these domains, Cloneable’s AI application in replicating workflows positions it well within current industry trends. The success of this seed round sets a foundation for further growth and potential future fundraising rounds as the company seeks to broaden its impact.
