Upscale AI Inc., a company specialized in data center networking for artificial intelligence workloads, has secured an additional $190 million in funding, augmenting its previous Series A round. This extension brings the Series A total to $390 million and the startup's valuation to $2 billion. The fundraise was spearheaded by Premji Invest, with contributions from notable tech giants including Nvidia Corp., Salesforce Ventures, Seligman Ventures, and Temasek.

Upscale AI is at the forefront of developing networking switches optimized for AI tasks, catering to the specific demands of scale-up and scale-out operations in data centers. These switches address the inefficiencies inherent in latency spikes that can disrupt AI model computations, leveraging a custom chip known as SkyHammer. This chip delivers predictable latency and supports various open-source protocols, enhancing data transfer speeds and reliability. One notable technology, UALink, enables GPUs to interconnect more efficiently by accessing memory as if it were local, while compatibility with ESUN aligns the technology closely with AI-focused Ethernet standards.
