Valiair acquires Superior Air Charter
Valiair, a Wyoming-based trust specializing in aviation services, has acquired Superior Air Charter, a Part 135-certified operator, expanding its capabilities in the very light jet market. The acquisition underscores Valiair's strategic objective to bolster its charter division by integrating a base in Texas, thereby enhancing its service offering in a key geographic region.
Although the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the transaction finalised in February includes Superior Air Charter’s fleet of three Embraer Executive Jets Phenom 100. These aircraft, with manufacturing dates between 2009 and 2010, consist of specific models identified as N574JS, N581JS, and N583JS. Additionally, the deal involves seven crew members and Superior Air Charter's operational management team transitioning to a Valiair subsidiary, ensuring a smoother integration process and continuity of operations.
According to Valiair's CEO, Marco Reininger, the acquisition is a pivotal move for the company's growth in the very light jet sector. Superior Air Charter’s existing operations in Texas align with Valiair’s objective of expanding its footprint in the region. By incorporating Superior Air Charter, Valiair seeks synergy with its current charter services, which leverage the Part 135 certificate it operates via Albuquerque International Airport, involving two other Phenom 100 jets.
The acquisition may prompt responses from competitors, as the charter industry faces continuous consolidation and fleet expansions to meet increasing demand. Superior Air Charter’s integration into Valiair offers potential advantages in fleet utilization, market presence, and operational efficiency, critical in a segment where demand for light jets is on the rise. Onward Jets, previously acting as the marketing agent for nextair, will serve as the charter broker for Superior Air Charter, potentially streamlining customer outreach and bookings.
Looking ahead, Valiair will focus on smoothly integrating Superior Air's operations and exploring further opportunities for regional and fleet expansion. As the charter market evolves, strategic acquisitions such as this could shape competition dynamics, prompting rivals to consider similar strategic moves to maintain market share. Whether further regulatory approvals are required remains unclear, but such acquisitions typically involve compliance with FAA standards and operational certifications.
