Power Grid Corporation of India acquires SR and ER Power Transmission Limited

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has acquired SR and ER Power Transmission Limited (SRERPTL) as part of its strategy to enhance inter-regional connectivity in India's power network. The acquisition was carried out under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route, but the financial terms remain undisclosed. The deal focuses on consolidating power transmission infrastructure between the Southern and Eastern grids.

SRERPTL, a special purpose vehicle, is tasked with implementing the "Inter-Regional Strengthening between the Southern Grid and Eastern Grid" project. This involves constructing transmission lines that stretch across Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, with associated line bays and reactor works. The acquisition includes SRERPTL's equity shares at par value and its assets and liabilities, with the price subject to adjustments based on a forthcoming audit.
