Minitab acquires Scytec Consulting

Minitab, a provider of data management and predictive analytics solutions, has acquired Scytec, a company specializing in real-time manufacturing technology. The acquisition aims to enhance Minitab’s offering by incorporating Scytec’s capabilities for machine data collection and monitoring, furthering Minitab’s goal to deliver comprehensive operational insights directly from the factory floor. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

With this acquisition, Minitab integrates Scytec’s DataXchange software into its portfolio, expanding its ability to collect real-time operational data from manufacturing equipment such as CNC machines, PLCs, and industrial robots. These capabilities allow manufacturers to visualize and analyze machine performance, utilization, and downtime, facilitating improvements in operational efficiency. This integration positions Minitab as one of the few companies able to standardize data collection across a spectrum of manufacturing environments.

Jeffrey T. Slovin, President and CEO of Minitab, highlighted the strategic alignment, stating that the deal connects real-time operational data with meaningful analytics, enabling manufacturers to optimize operations.
