Resonetics acquires Resolution Medical

Resonetics has finalized its acquisition of Resolution Medical, although financial terms remain undisclosed. The acquisition, first revealed in January, provides Resonetics with expanded capabilities in design engineering and manufacturing solutions for medical devices. This strategic move aligns with Resonetics' goal to enhance its offerings in the interventional, structural heart, and neuromodulation markets.

The acquisition includes Resolution Medical's 36,000-square-foot manufacturing facility equipped with ISO Class 7 cleanrooms in Fridley, Minnesota, as well as operations in the Netherlands. Resolution employs over 240 personnel, with a significant emphasis on engineering talent, having more than 100 engineers on staff. This enhances Resonetics' production capacity, allowing it to deliver a comprehensive array of device solutions from initial design to finished product.

Strategically, this acquisition bolsters Resonetics' position as a key partner for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) seeking to navigate the complexities of developing and manufacturing advanced medical devices. It follows Resonetics' recent procurement efforts, which included acquiring assets related to battery, lead, and pulse generator manufacturing. The company had previously expanded its capabilities in injection molding through acquiring Eden Holdings, underscoring its intent to consolidate resources for the development of complex and regulated medical devices.

The integration of Resolution Medical is a pivotal step for Resonetics, as affirmed by CEO Kevin Kelly. Kelly noted that as medical devices grow increasingly sophisticated, customers need partners capable of offering comprehensive development and manufacturing solutions. The acquisition enhances Resonetics’ ability to support cutting-edge therapeutic innovations by providing streamlined and scalable manufacturing capabilities.

As the medical device sector continues to demand intricate solutions, Resonetics’ latest expansion could influence competitors to reassess their strategic positioning.
