Kornit Digital acquires PrintFactory
Kornit Digital, a leader in digital textile production, announced the acquisition of the Netherlands-based PrintFactory, a specialist in workflow and production automation software. The acquisition forms part of Kornit's strategy to accelerate the industry's shift from traditional screen printing to digital methods. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
PrintFactory's cloud-based workflow solutions are compatible with an extensive range of over 4,900 printing and cutting systems and are currently used by more than 10,000 active users worldwide. The software aids a variety of markets including large-format printing, textiles, direct-to-film, and direct-to-garment applications. Notably, PrintFactory already numbers some of Kornit’s key customers among its users.
Kornit CEO Ronen Samuel emphasized the broader strategic implications of the acquisition, highlighting that it strengthens Kornit's position in the ongoing transition to connected digital manufacturing environments. Samuel stated that the integration of PrintFactory's technology aligns with Kornit’s goal to create a comprehensive digital infrastructure enabling agile, on-demand manufacturing. PrintFactory's CEO Erik Strik described the merger as an opportunity to expand their roadmap and enhance customer value through Kornit’s global reach and innovative culture.
The acquisition comes as Kornit unveils its latest innovation, the Atlas Matrix, at Kornit Konnections in Florida. Positioned as a breakthrough in demand-driven manufacturing, the Atlas Matrix promises complete production flexibility across cotton, polyester, and blends, without compromising on quality or efficiency. Featuring Kornit's proprietary Karbon Shield technology, the device addresses high-performance requirements typical in sportswear and athleisure markets by preventing dye migration on challenging polyester fabrics.
The acquisition and new technology rollout illustrate Kornit's intent to strengthen its foothold in the rapidly evolving digital printing sector. With PrintFactory’s software enhancing the production workflow, Kornit aims to accelerate the industry's migration to digital methods, moving away from isolated production tools. The Atlas Matrix, available for orders now and set to ship from May, will debut at the Fespa Global Print Expo in Barcelona, signaling Kornit's continued innovation within the industry.
