Modiqo Inc. raises $3M in Pre-Seed

Modiqo Inc., an artificial intelligence infrastructure startup, has secured $3 million in pre-seed funding. The round was co-led by Heavybit and Seligman Ventures, with additional contributions from Irregular Expressions and a number of angel investors. This funding aims to further Modiqo’s mission to enhance the reliability and production-readiness of AI agents, which are often hampered by unpredictable and inconsistent performance.

Modiqo's offering addresses a fundamental issue in the AI ecosystem: the challenge of maintaining consistency when AI agents execute tasks. Current AI systems frequently produce irregular results, despite having successfully completed similar tasks previously. Modiqo's proprietary solution, known as Rote, aims to convert successful AI executions into reusable workflows, effectively reducing the inefficiency and redundancy that occur as models and systems evolve. This innovation is particularly valuable for systems operators responsible for stable AI deployments, who currently face challenges with debugging repetitive failures due to model and API updates.

Heavybit General Partner Joseph Ruscio highlighted the problem with existing AI agents, noting that they lack a framework to remember and iterate upon past tasks, resulting in a recurring "rediscovery tax." Rote addresses this by capturing the successful execution of tasks and transforming them into deterministic code, which conserves computational resources and addresses the issue of context bloat in modern AI agent stacks. Ruscio emphasized that Modiqo's solution could ensure operational continuity by connecting AI agents to any API without requiring additional infrastructure.

In the broader AI infrastructure sector, Modiqo's advancement could prove significant as competitors also seek to strengthen the durability and repeatability of AI agents.
