Mutares SE & Co. KGaA is set to acquire two automotive supplier businesses from Magna International, effectively bolstering its footprint in the Automotive & Mobility sector. The acquisitions, pegged at combined revenues of $320 million by 2025, will enhance the Amaneos and HiLo Groups within Mutares' portfolio, focusing on exterior, lighting, and roof systems.

The deal, which awaits regulatory approval, targets completion in the second quarter of 2026. The first acquisition involves Magna's European automotive lighting business, anticipated to contribute approximately $235 million to Mutares' revenue in 2025. This entity will integrate with Light Mobility Solutions GmbH under the Amaneos Group, enhancing product differentiation and elevating its status as a comprehensive supplier for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

In parallel, Mutares will absorb Magna's car top systems business, expected to deliver around $85 million in revenues in 2025. This business will join the HiLo Group, combining advanced roof architecture with current expertise in hinges and locking systems. The acquisitions are expected to create synergies, enhancing system integration capabilities and broadening Mutares' automotive offerings.

This strategic move aligns with Mutares’ goal of scaling platform companies for midterm exits, supported by a recent capital increase aimed at accelerating growth in European and U.S. markets. According to Johannes Laumann, Mutares' Chief Investment Officer, these transactions are pivotal in building scalable platforms and enhancing the company’s value proposition to OEMs. The expansion supports Mutares’ 2026 ambitions of achieving group revenues between EUR 7.9 billion and EUR 9.1 billion, and a net income ranging from EUR 165 million to EUR 200 million.

As the automotive sector grapples with evolving technologies and supply chain adjustments, Mutares' acquisition strategy could provide a competitive edge, particularly in segments like exterior and lighting systems. These transactions, upon clearing regulatory hurdles, will be a critical step toward Mutares’ projected annual growth of 25% in group revenues and holding net income by 2030.
