KredosAI, an Issaquah, Washington-based startup, has secured $7 million in a Series A funding round. The investment was led by BMW i Ventures, the venture capital arm of the German automaker, alongside new participants Motley Fool Ventures and Walter Ventures. Existing investors such as Okapi Venture Capital, StartFast Ventures, SaaS Ventures, and Stout Street Capital also took part. This round raises KredosAI’s total funding to just over $10 million, supporting its operations in AI-driven debt collection.

Founded in 2021 by former T-Mobile executives, KredosAI specializes in leveraging artificial intelligence and behavioral science to streamline the process of collecting overdue consumer payments. The firm focuses on the interval between a payment's delinquency and the point at which it might traditionally move to collections. KredosAI's technology personalizes the timing, channel, and content of payment reminders by analyzing account histories, which reportedly reduces write-offs by 11.5% and increases customer lifetime value by 13.6% compared to conventional methods.

The strategic involvement of BMW i Ventures is particularly notable as KredosAI aims to deepen its presence in the auto finance sector, where subprime auto-loan delinquencies have climbed. The alignment with BMW aids KredosAI in understanding how lenders, akin to telecom companies, manage the trade-off between debt recovery and customer retention. The connection to BMW arose from an introduction by an existing investor, providing KredosAI with an advantageous entry into the automotive lending market.

KredosAI competes with firms such as Symend, a Calgary-based company employing similar behavioral tactics for debt collection. The industry also includes digital debt collectors and traditional software providers. KredosAI, which reports a sixfold revenue increase in two years and over 200 million customer interactions, plans to allocate the new capital towards expanding sales, marketing, and product development, including agentic AI and advanced voice agents.

The company’s integration with FICO’s Platform further underscores its commitment to blending innovative AI solutions with established credit systems. Its growth trajectory in the subsectors of AI and behavioral science-driven payment solutions positions it within a competitive landscape, prompting scrutiny on how effectively it can leverage its partnerships and new funds.
