MGS Manufacturing acquires Knudsen Plast

MGS, a global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), has acquired Knudsen Plast A/S, a Denmark-based injection molding specialist with over four decades of experience in healthcare manufacturing. The acquisition, for which financial terms were not disclosed, aims to bolster MGS's capabilities in Europe by expanding its cleanroom capacity and tapping into Knudsen Plast's expertise in injection molding.

The strategic acquisition includes Knudsen Plast’s operations in both Denmark and Slovakia. This move is designed to enhance MGS's service offerings to its healthcare clients in Europe, providing not only greater regional proximity but also heightened technical capabilities. Paul Manley, the President and CEO of MGS, noted the alignment of Knudsen Plast's technical expertise and high-quality systems with MGS's comprehensive solutions in design, development, and manufacturing.

By integrating Knudsen Plast, MGS aims to solidify its role as a pivotal partner in healthcare innovation, facilitating accelerated development and strengthened supply chains for healthcare firms. Jens Kristian Pedersen, Managing Director of Knudsen Plast, emphasized the shared commitment to healthcare advancements and similar corporate values, while Soren Nielsen, Managing Director of Knudsen Plast Slovakia, highlighted new opportunities for growth in Central and Eastern Europe.

The acquisition positions MGS more favorably within the competitive landscape of healthcare manufacturing, where proximity to supply chains and advanced production capabilities are becoming increasingly vital. This expansion comes as part of a broader trend of consolidation within the sector, as firms seek to enhance their offerings and geographical reach through strategic acquisitions.

As MGS integrates Knudsen Plast into its global operations, the company now boasts 1,600 employees across 13 facilities worldwide. This expansion strengthens its standing as a leading provider of end-to-end development and manufacturing solutions in the healthcare sector.
