Amperos Health raises $16M in Series A
Amperos Health, a provider of AI-driven solutions for insurance denial management and revenue recovery, secured $16 million in a Series A funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners. This financing boosts the company’s total funding to $20.2 million. Amperos Health aims to address significant inefficiencies in the healthcare payment process in the United States, where providers face $262 billion in lost revenues due to insurance claim denials each year, followed by an additional $26 billion spent on attempts to collect these funds.
The Amperos Health platform is designed to handle every stage of the denial and collections process, integrating directly with existing billing systems of healthcare providers. It replaces the fragmented and often incomplete solutions previously available in denial management. Having a presence across over 3,000 clinical locations nationwide, the platform facilitates the recovery of nearly $700 million in revenue yearly from over 500,000 claims. Amperos' AI-native approach is intended to ensure that all claims are systematically processed, enhancing recovery by 22% per claim at costs of up to 50% lower than traditional methods.
Amperos Health's strategy is fuelled by the need to streamline healthcare revenue cycle management, particularly as 63% of these teams are currently understaffed and experience a 32% annual turnover. By offering a comprehensive end-to-end solution, Amperos seeks to alleviate the burdens placed on healthcare provider teams, allowing them more financial room to grow their practices and compensate staff better. The differentiation of Amperos lies in its capacity to manage the entire workflow seamlessly without falling back on mere point solutions that only address isolated steps in the claims recovery process.
This funding round comes as the healthcare sector increasingly adopts technology to improve administrative efficiencies and cost controls. Competitors in the space are challenged to match Amperos' breadth of offering and ability to integrate fully with existing systems. With healthcare companies perpetually confronting razor-thin margins due to administrative inefficiencies, solutions that enhance revenue recovery while cutting costs gain critical importance.
Going forward, Amperos Health will likely focus on expanding its reach and refining technology to further automate the complex workflow of denial management. The influx of new capital is expected to accelerate product development and potentially broaden the platform’s capabilities. Regulatory considerations will continue to play a role, as healthcare data management remains under stringent oversight, possibly affecting how quickly new integrations can be implemented.
