Lenovo acquires Infinidat

Lenovo has finalized its acquisition of Infinidat, incorporating the Israeli high-end enterprise storage firm into its Infrastructure Solutions Group. This strategic move signifies Lenovo's entry into the high-end enterprise storage market, enhancing its ability to serve sectors such as financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, and the public sector with advanced storage solutions.

The deal, initially announced over a year ago, has received unanimous approval from both companies' boards and all necessary regulatory clearances. Although Lenovo has not disclosed the financial terms of the acquisition, Infinidat will now function as an independent unit within Lenovo’s Infrastructure Solutions Group. This integration is set to provide continuity for Infinidat’s existing clientele while expanding Lenovo's service offerings through combined technological strengths.

Infinidat's product portfolio, including the hybrid enterprise storage array InfiniBox G4, the all-flash InfiniBox SSA G4, and the backup appliance InfiniGuard G4, will complement Lenovo's existing suite of technology solutions. All of these products operate on Infinidat’s proprietary software, InfuzeOS, which focuses on delivering low latency and high reliability. According to Ashley Gorakhpurwalla, President of Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group, the acquisition enhances Lenovo’s storage capabilities and accelerates its strategy to deliver resilient, high-performance data infrastructure suitable for AI, analytics, and mission-critical applications.

This acquisition positions Lenovo to better compete in the high-end storage market, which is dominated by companies such as Dell Technologies and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. By integrating Infinidat's robust offerings, Lenovo aims to address the increasing demand for reliable, scalable storage solutions driven by data-intensive workloads across various industries.
