Iceotope Technologies Ltd. raises $26M in Series B
Iceotope Technologies Ltd., a developer of precision liquid cooling systems for data centers, has secured $26 million in a Series B funding round. The investment, aimed at expanding Iceotope's presence in more energy-efficient cooling solutions, was led by Two Seas Capital and Barclays Climate Ventures. Existing investors such as Edinv, ABC Impact, Northern Gritstone, and British Patient Capital also participated.
Iceotope's innovative cooling approach is designed to address the escalating demands of artificial intelligence applications, which place higher stress on data center infrastructure. The company's technology employs a precision liquid cooling method that reduces energy and water consumption in comparison to traditional air and direct-to-chip cooling systems. The products are engineered to enhance AI system performance and efficiency in a variety of operational settings, including cloud infrastructure providers and hyperscale data centers, as well as enterprises in telecommunications and media. Iceotope’s chief executive Simon Jesenko emphasized that the funding validates the demand for more advanced and sustainable cooling technologies, enabling the company to scale its operations effectively.
The strategic move comes as data center operators confront the physical and efficiency constraints of conventional cooling methods. Iceotope’s liquid cooling systems promise to bolster AI server density and accommodate increasingly complex workloads. Projections by SemiAnalysis highlight the burgeoning potential in this sector, forecasting a dramatic expansion in the deployment of liquid-cooled AI accelerators, expected to grow from 3 gigawatts to over 40 gigawatts within two years.
For Iceotope, the significant capital injection will focus on enhancing product development and engineering prowess, expanding its patent portfolio, and forging partnerships crucial for market penetration. Barclays Climate Ventures’ Steven Poulter pointed out the timely nature of Iceotope's technological solutions, aligning with industry shifts towards sustainability and responding to the rising power and cooling requirements of modern data centers.
Looking ahead, Iceotope will likely navigate regulatory landscapes and market readiness to operationalize its technology at scale. As data centers increasingly prioritize sustainable solutions, Iceotope's progress and execution of its strategic roadmap will be pivotal in influencing broader industry practices and competitive dynamics.
