EDP acquires Hocon Gas

EDP has acquired Hocon Gas, a long-standing provider of propane and fuel oil services in Connecticut, as it seeks to strengthen its market presence in the northeastern United States. While the terms of the transaction remain undisclosed, the acquisition gives EDP access to Hocon's operations across five locations serving over 35,000 customers in the state.

Founded more than 75 years ago by Mike and Lauree Gable in Norwalk, Hocon Gas expanded substantially under the leadership of their son, David Gable, starting in 1980. The company grew from a single location to a network of five, embedded deeply in the Connecticut energy sector. David Gable’s longstanding involvement in industry associations underscores Hocon's reputation and operational ethos.

Kevin Pollack, CEO of EDP, emphasized the alignment between the two companies, highlighting Hocon's commitment to operational excellence and customer service as key factors in the acquisition. Pollack stated that the integration of Hocon Gas into EDP would establish a comprehensive statewide presence in Connecticut, enhancing EDP's footprint in the region and preserving the legacy of the company's founders.
