d-Matrix, a company specializing in low-latency AI inference for data centers, has acquired the data center business of GigaIO, a systems engineering firm known for its rack-scale infrastructure expertise. While financial details were not disclosed, the acquisition is aimed at enhancing d-Matrix's capabilities in delivering comprehensive AI infrastructure solutions.

The transaction grants d-Matrix control over key technologies from GigaIO, notably the SuperNODE and FabreX PCIe-based memory fabric. This acquisition marks the expansion of d-Matrix’s platform, which includes components like Corsair inference accelerators and the SquadRack rack-scale reference architecture, co-developed with Broadcom and Arista. Notably, although the data center business changes hands, GigaIO will continue to operate independently with a focus on edge computing.

By integrating GigaIO's technology, d-Matrix aims to address the growing demand for scalable AI inference infrastructure. The acquisition includes the absorption of GigaIO's engineering team in Carlsbad, California, further expanding d-Matrix's engineering resources and global footprint to six innovation centers worldwide.
