FlexGen Acquires Clean Energy Services
FlexGen Power Systems has acquired Clean Energy Services (CES) to enhance its capabilities in the battery energy storage and utility-scale solar services sectors. The acquisition, finalized in April, positions FlexGen to augment its operational and maintenance service offerings while broadening its domestic field service team. This strategic move is intended to improve support for a variety of energy projects, including battery storage, solar, and hybrid energy systems.
The integration of CES taps into its field service expertise, combining it with FlexGen’s HybridOS® energy management software platform. This merger aims to offer a more comprehensive service to customers, covering all stages from project development to long-term asset management. The enhanced service portfolio is expected to help customers expedite project deployment, enhance system reliability, and optimize performance throughout the asset lifecycle.
FlexGen underscores the transaction’s significance in the expanding field of battery energy storage, a sector witnessing an increase in project scale and complexity. The acquisition allows FlexGen to extend its OEM partner ecosystem through CES’s status as an Authorized Service Provider. This expansion enables FlexGen to provide FEOC-compliant services across multiple original equipment manufacturers, increasing operational flexibility and offering domestically sourced servicing options.
Furthermore, FlexGen enhances its capabilities with the acquisition by incorporating CES’s expertise. This includes new functionalities in the HybridOS® platform, such as a Power Plant Controller aimed at optimizing solar and hybrid energy operations. CES's experience in servicing over 1 GW of solar assets strengthens FlexGen’s ability to provide seamless support across the entire project lifecycle.
The acquisition signals FlexGen's commitment to increasing service depth and regional coverage, facilitated by the expanded team. The company now supports more than 25 GWh of energy storage capacity across over 200 systems globally, serving a diverse client base that includes developers, utilities, government agencies, and industrial clients. As battery storage solutions become more integral to grid stability, FlexGen’s augmented offerings aim to deliver quicker project rollouts with enhanced reliability and performance.
