Cognizant Acquires Astreya for $600M

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. has announced the acquisition of Astreya Inc., an IT managed services firm based in San Jose, for $600 million. This acquisition is aimed at bolstering Cognizant's capabilities in artificial intelligence infrastructure services. The deal will see Cognizant enhance its AI service offerings by integrating Astreya's proprietary platforms and deep experience in enterprise-managed services and data center operations.

Astreya, with operations in over 35 countries, extends its 25-year legacy of providing managed services to some of the largest global companies. Its AI OpsHub platform offers tools for readiness assessment, signal intelligence, analytics, and automation. This suite of tools will complement Cognizant’s existing AI builder stack, as articulated by Cognizant’s CEO Ravi Kumar S., to better assist clients in architecting and scaling AI systems. The acquisition is expected to conclude in the second quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.

Strategically, this acquisition aligns with Cognizant's ongoing transition into a firm focused on AI-driven consulting and services. Cognizant has been on an aggressive path to evolve as an “AI builder,” highlighted by its introduction of Flowsource in early 2024, a generative AI-assisted software engineering platform. It further expanded its capabilities into practical AI deployments and multi-agent systems later in 2024, underscoring its commitment to AI transformation. Previous strategic moves include a January 2025 acquisition of a Microsoft Azure services provider, which expanded its expertise in cloud-based AI and app innovation.

In the broader market context, Cognizant's acquisition of Astreya places it in a stronger position within the competitive IT services landscape, particularly against rivals expanding their AI and cloud service portfolios.
