Riverview Landscapes acquires Cleveland Brothers Landscaping
Riverview Landscapes has acquired Cleveland Brothers Landscaping, Inc., a prominent player in the landscaping industry located in Corinth, New York, for an undisclosed amount. This acquisition, which transfers ownership from founders Terry and Kevin Cleveland, marks Riverview's 21st purchase since its establishment just last year. The move enhances Riverview's footprint in the greater Saratoga Springs area, strengthening its presence in the broader Albany region where Cleveland Brothers has serviced the market for over three decades.
Cleveland Brothers Landscaping, founded in 1988, has provided comprehensive landscaping services including maintenance, hardscaping, fertilization, and snow removal. Following the acquisition, Riverview will incorporate the Cleveland Brothers workforce into its Albany branch. Key Cleveland Brothers personnel, Roger Finch and Kyle Hogan, will continue as Operations Managers under the new ownership. Riverview plans to shift its Albany office operations to the more expansive facilities in Corinth previously operated by Cleveland Brothers, under the ongoing oversight of Curtis Tironi, Riverview's Albany Branch Manager.
Riverview Landscapes sees strategic benefits in this acquisition, primarily due to Cleveland Brothers' established reputation and alignment with Riverview's values of customer service and quality. CEO Michael Waterman emphasized the compatibility between the two firms, noting that the merger with Cleveland Brothers’ seasoned team and client-first philosophy supports Riverview's wider growth strategy. Likewise, Kevin Cleveland cited a shared commitment to longstanding business values as a key factor in choosing Riverview as the successor to their business.
The acquisition reflects ongoing consolidation trends in the landscaping sector, where smaller, family-run businesses are increasingly becoming targets for acquisition by larger competitors seeking to scale operations rapidly. Riverview, with a portfolio spanning from southern and northern New Jersey to New England, is actively expanding its service areas and enhancing its service offerings as it builds a robust regional presence. The integration of Cleveland Brothers’ capabilities could provide Riverview with operational synergies and a strengthened ability to serve its extensive customer base.
Looking ahead, Riverview will focus on integrating Cleveland Brothers into its existing operations while maintaining service continuity for customers in the Albany region. The move potentially positions Riverview for further expansion opportunities in adjacent regions, although regulatory approvals or market adjustments may still affect the timeline and full integration of the acquisition.
