Rimouski Océanic acquires Cataractes

The Rimouski Océanic have bolstered their forward roster by acquiring 17-year-old prospect Anthony Dontigny from the Shawinigan Cataractes. In an exchange transaction, Rimouski sent a fourth-round pick in the 2028 QMJHL draft to Shawinigan. Dontigny, who was a fifth-round pick in the 2024 draft, has been gaining experience playing this season in the BCHL with the West Kelowna Warriors.

Under the terms of the deal, Dontigny will join Rimouski for the remainder of the current season. His professional experience in the QMJHL is limited to six games, all played in the 2024-25 season with Shawinigan. As Rimouski sits eighth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 16-17-1, the acquisition appears to be part of a strategic push to develop talent for upcoming seasons.
