Cognizant acquires Astreya
Cognizant, a leading IT consultancy firm based in Teaneck, New Jersey, has agreed to acquire Astreya, a San Jose-based company specializing in IT managed services. The transaction is reportedly valued at approximately $600 million, according to sources close to the negotiations. The acquisition is projected to close in the second quarter of 2026, pending standard regulatory approvals.
Founded in 2001, Astreya has established itself as a significant player in the IT managed services sector, with a staff exceeding 2,400 employees and operations spanning 35 countries. The firm's clientele includes major technology companies, notably serving six of the industry’s leading firms known as the Magnificent Seven. Astreya provides comprehensive services, including the management of data center infrastructure, AI laboratory environments, and enterprise networks. Its star product, the AI OpsHub platform, offers unique capabilities in readiness assessment, signal intelligence, and automated analytics.
The acquisition aligns with Cognizant's broader strategy to bolster its AI and data center infrastructure offerings, as firms prepare for an anticipated $700 billion investment by the largest hyperscalers in global infrastructure by 2026. "By acquiring Astreya and its proprietary AI tooling, we will enhance our ability to help clients architect platform-led AI systems and operationalize them at scale," said Ravi Kumar S., CEO of Cognizant. This move is part of a larger trend by Cognizant to expand its AI footprint, following previous acquisitions of technology-focused firms such as Aimatic, a Microsoft Azure consulting firm, and Belcan, a digital engineering company.
The acquisition of Astreya positions Cognizant more competitively within the IT managed services sector by enhancing its technology stack and AI capabilities, further accommodating the infrastructure demands of global tech companies. With Astreya’s strategic partnerships with Google Cloud and ServiceNow, Cognizant can leverage these relationships to broaden its service offerings and improve market penetration.
As the deal approaches its expected close in 2026, regulatory scrutiny and integration will be critical. The completion of this acquisition represents a core component of Cognizant's strategy to diversify its capabilities and secure a more substantial presence in the rapidly evolving landscape of IT managed services and AI-driven infrastructure solutions.
