Arcade AI Inc., a startup focused on developing an authorization platform for artificial intelligence agents, announced it has secured $60 million in a Series A funding round. This round was led by SYN Ventures, with participation from Morgan Stanley and technology consulting firm Wipro Ltd. This capital infusion is aimed at bolstering Arcade's platform capabilities, allowing enterprises to streamline the AI agent authorization process.

The funding is intended to enhance the company's platform, which simplifies the authorization workflow for AI agents accessing business applications. Traditionally, developers were required to create custom authorization mechanisms for AI projects. Arcade's solution provides prepackaged features, reducing the reliance on custom code and minimizing cybersecurity vulnerabilities. The platform integrates with companies’ Identity Providers (IdP) systems to automatically adjust AI agent permissions, thus eliminating the need for manual updates.

Arcade's approach to authorization employs the open-source Oath 2.0 protocol, utilizing OATH tokens for managing access which offers enhanced security over traditional password systems. The platform encrypts tokens before storage, making it challenging for hackers to decrypt, and employs a salting mechanism to safeguard against plaintext vulnerabilities. By narrowing the attack surface to specific agent actions, the platform aims to better shield applications from unauthorized access.

The company, founded in 2024 by CEO Alex Salazar and CTO Sam Partee, builds on their previous experiences in senior product roles at Oka Inc. and Redis Inc. respectively. Prior to this Series A, Arcade had already raised $12 million in a seed round. The fresh capital will be directed towards expanding the platform’s agent governance functionality and the catalog of over 8,000 MCP tools available for automating work tasks.

This funding round positions Arcade as a competitive player in the AI authorization sector, where the need for secure, efficient AI agent management is growing. Other companies in the space may feel pressure to enhance their offerings or risk falling behind in cybersecurity and operational efficiency. As Arcade plans to build upon its current technology, attention will turn to its ability to deliver on these enhancements and penetrate a wider market.
