Havas acquires Acento

Havas has acquired a majority stake in Acento Public Affairs, a prominent Spanish consultancy, in a strategic move to bolster its leadership position in public affairs within the Iberian Peninsula. The acquisition will see Acento integrated into H/Advisors, Havas' global communications network. The deal, which underscores Havas' commitment to expanding its influence in strategic advisory communications, aligns with its ongoing efforts to fortify its presence in key global markets.

Founded in 2019, Acento Public Affairs is recognized as a leading entity in the public affairs sector in Spain. The firm is led by co-CEOs Alfonso Alonso and Pepe Blanco and employs more than 50 professionals across offices located in Madrid, Barcelona, and Brussels. Post-acquisition, Acento will rebrand as H/Advisors and maintain its current leadership structure. This move enhances H/Advisors' capability in Spain and connects it to a larger network of 1,500 professionals spread across 50 offices globally.

The acquisition by Havas builds on H/Advisors' recent momentum of strategic investments, having expanded through alliances with Gauly Advisors in Germany, Cunha Vaz & Associados (CV&A) in Portugal, Australian Public Affairs (APA) in Australia, and Klareco Communications in Singapore. Since 2022, H/Advisors has been expanding within Spain, marked by the acquisition of Tinkle, another key player in the region. Chairman and CEO of Havas, Yannick Bolloré, noted the strategic significance of the Iberian market and the opportunity to enhance regional leadership in conjunction with Acento's team.

The deal highlights the increasing importance of strategic communications in navigating political, regulatory, and reputational landscapes, a focus reiterated by Stéphane Fouks, Executive Chairman of H/Advisors. The firm views the enhanced capabilities in Brussels and Spain as essential for addressing European affairs, further cementing its standing amidst the complexities of the European Union's regulatory frameworks.
