Varcomm Holdings acquires Sierra Tel

Varcomm Holdings, Inc. has announced its acquisition of Sierra Telephone Company, Inc., including its operating affiliates such as Sierra Tel Internet, Sierra Tel Long Distance, and Sierra Tel Business Systems. The deal, for which financial terms remain undisclosed, is currently pending regulatory approval from the California Public Utilities Commission and the Federal Communications Commission. This acquisition is expected to enhance Varcomm's capabilities in delivering communication services throughout California, particularly in the Sierra Nevada mountain region where Sierra Telephone operates.

Varcomm Holdings is under the umbrella of VSquared Holdings, Inc. Sierra Telephone serves a 775-square-mile area across eastern Madera and Mariposa counties, providing crucial telecommunication services to rural communities. The merger is framed as a strategic maneuver to bolster the future of broadband access in these underserved areas. Eric Votaw, CEO and Chairman of Varcomm, emphasized that combining the resources and expertise of the two companies will enable substantial improvements in service quality and network expansion.

The acquisition aligns with Varcomm's broader strategic goals by concentrating on advancing fiber infrastructure and expanding broadband accessibility.
