Tombras, an ad agency headquartered in Knoxville, has acquired Portland-based Opinionated, further expanding its national footprint. The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed. This acquisition adds to Tombras's recent string of acquisitions, enhancing its capabilities particularly in creative branding and advertising, areas where Opinionated has built a reputation.

Founded in 2017, Opinionated consists of a 40-person team that will continue its operations in Portland under the same name throughout 2026. Starting in 2027, they will transition into Tombras West. Opinionated's leadership will remain intact, with founder and executive creative director Mark Fitzloff, who has a decade of experience at Wieden & Kennedy, still at the helm. The leadership team also includes Trish Adams as partner and president, along with several other key executives.

Tombras cited Opinionated's expertise in developing creative and culturally resonant brand platforms for clients like adidas, Hinge, and Panda Express as a driving factor for the acquisition. By integrating Opinionated's strengths, Tombras aims to bolster its offerings in creative services and expand its client list with an enhanced pool of talent.

This acquisition underscores Tombras's aggressive expansion strategy following its 2024 acquisitions of The Burns Group in New York and Niña in Buenos Aires. With the addition of Opinionated, Tombras now employs over 600 staff globally, with offices in key markets such as Atlanta, Charlotte, and Washington, DC.

Looking ahead, the consolidation under Tombras West suggests strategic positioning for growth on the West Coast. The integration process will likely focus on aligning strategic goals while leveraging local market expertise. The market will watch how these organizational shifts impact client service dynamics and creative output.
