InduPro, a biotech firm specializing in therapeutics targeting the spatial relationships between proteins on cell surfaces, has secured $77 million in a Series B funding round. The infusion of capital comes as the company advances into a Phase 1 clinical trial for its lead cancer drug candidate, IDP-001. This experimental antibody-drug conjugate is engineered to target cancer cells by leveraging unique combinations of protein proximities found on cancerous but not normal tissues.

The funding round was led by The Column Group, alongside contributions from Vida Ventures, MRL Ventures Fund, Emerson Collective, Euclidean Capital, Solasta Ventures, Sanofi, and Eli Lilly and Company. The new investment will enable InduPro to progress with its trial, which has begun enrolling adults with advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer and other solid tumors resistant to standard treatments. The trial aims to assess the safety and efficacy of IDP-001 along with early signs of its antitumor activity.

InduPro's innovative platform seeks to enhance precision in therapeutics by identifying target combinations close on cancer cells but not on normal tissues, potentially increasing selectivity against tumors. CEO Prakash Raman, previously at Ribon Therapeutics and Novartis, underscored the recognition received from such a prominent group of investors and strategic partners, acknowledging their shared interest in the potential of proximity-guided therapies.

This funding round aligns with a broader strategic context, including InduPro's earlier collaboration and licensing agreement with Eli Lilly, which covers up to three oncology targets and is valued at approximately $950 million. The Series B proceeds will also fuel the expansion of InduPro’s preclinical programs, which target both cancer and autoimmune diseases, aiming to bolster its innovative pipeline.

Key milestones ahead for InduPro include the progression of the Phase 1 trial, whose outcomes will be watched closely in the competitive biotech sector. As the sector continues to innovate, particularly in oncology, InduPro's approach to leveraging cell surface protein spatial relationships may offer a novel pathway in the development of precision medicines. The results from this trial, alongside regulatory evaluations, will be critical in determining the company's trajectory and its impact on the broader therapeutic landscape.
