Toronto FC II acquires IFK Göteborg

Toronto FC II has added Ivorian midfielder Abundance Salaou to its MLS NEXT Pro roster through a permanent transfer from Swedish club IFK Göteborg. The 21-year-old joins the Canadian outfit following stints in Sweden's top divisions, and his transfer is contingent on league and federation approvals along with the receipt of an International Transfer Certificate.

Sean Rubio, Technical Director at Toronto FC, emphasized the quality and experience that Salaou brings to the team. Having developed at ASEC Mimosas, one of Africa's renowned academies, Salaou brings a robust playing background. He has accumulated substantial playing time in Sweden, debuting professionally in 2022 with IFK Göteborg in the Allsvenskan and making 22 appearances over three seasons. Additionally, Salaou spent time on loan at Utsiktens BK in Sweden's second division, where he made 31 appearances and logged over 2,000 minutes on the field.
