Coval Inc. raises $28M
Coval Inc., a firm specializing in voice artificial intelligence, has successfully secured $28 million in a funding round led by Norwest Venture Partners. The raise is intended to bolster Coval's platform, coinciding with a surge in enterprise use of voice agents. Founded in 2024, Coval has positioned its software to enhance the deployment and performance monitoring of AI voice and chat agents, addressing challenges such as handling accents, background noise, and unexpected dialog, which traditional manual checks struggle to scale effectively.
Coval’s CEO, Brooke Hopkins, who previously developed evaluation technology at Waymo, draws parallels between the company's simulation capabilities and autonomous vehicle testing. Their platform conducts extensive probabilistic evaluations, enabling clients to reduce manual quality assurance workloads significantly—up to 30 times faster—and expedite agent deployments by a factor of ten. The company reports over 60 customers, including Zoom Communications Inc. and Deepgram Inc., leveraging its technology to simulate, monitor, and improve AI voice agent performance reliably.
The latest fundraising effort is set to expand Coval’s engineering and sales teams and facilitate further product enhancements. These improvements will focus on refining simulation processes, developing new integrations, and introducing advanced human review tools. Additional participation in the funding round came from Base10 Partners, Twilio Ventures, and Y Combinator. Norwest partner Scott Beechuk highlighted Hopkins' expertise in autonomous systems as pivotal to shaping how voice AI is deployed across industries.
The infusion of investor capital reflects the broader momentum within the voice AI sector, which saw over $7 billion in investment in the first quarter of 2026 alone. Projections suggest the sector could surpass $20 billion by 2031. Voice agents are increasingly utilized in customer service, sales, financial services, and healthcare, highlighting both the demand and growth potential within these verticals.
Going forward, Coval will likely focus on deepening its market penetration and refining its technological offerings. As the landscape for voice AI continues to expand, keeping abreast of regulatory developments and ensuring seamless integration into enterprise systems will be critical for sustaining growth and capitalizing on market opportunities.
