YFC Lincoln Area merges with City Impact
Youth for Christ Lincoln and City Impact, two established faith-based nonprofits in Lincoln, have announced a merger intended to enhance their reach and streamline operations for better service delivery to local youth and families. This strategic move will see Youth for Christ assuming the role of parent organization, with City Impact continuing its activities as a division focused on its well-known initiatives.
As part of the merger, City Impact will preserve its key programs, such as the "Gifts of Love" holiday initiative and literacy and youth outreaches in the Clinton-Hartley neighborhood. Matt Schulte, Lancaster County Commissioner and Executive Director of Youth for Christ, highlighted the integration as a way to unify decades of expertise. Youth for Christ has been operating in Lincoln since 1969, while City Impact has been active for around 30 years. The merger aims to smoothly transition participants from City Impact's programs into Youth for Christ's middle and high school programming.
The merger promises enhanced operational efficiency by consolidating resources such as administrative services and facilities. The organizations are also looking to capitalize on their combined physical presence near 33rd and Vine, optimally positioning themselves to engage with youth in the Lincoln area more effectively.
In the broader faith-based nonprofit sector, such strategic consolidations can serve as a model for improved service delivery through resource sharing and program continuity. Other nonprofit entities may observe this merger as an impetus to reevaluate their structures to better serve their communities in an increasingly collaborative environment.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony and press conference are scheduled to take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 8, at City Impact's premises, marking the formal inception of this merger. The event will offer tours and refreshments, presenting attendees with an opportunity to learn more about the unified organization's vision and enhanced offerings.
