Onebrief acquires Battle Road

Onebrief Inc., a defense technology firm, has acquired Battle Road Digital Inc. for $200 million, utilizing funds raised in its latest Series D round. This transaction underscores Onebrief's strategy to expand its capabilities in the defense sector through advanced simulation and game-inspired technology. The acquisition follows a substantial $200 million fundraising effort, which valued Onebrief at $2.15 billion. The funding round included contributions from Battery Ventures LP, Sapphire Ventures LP, Salesforce Ventures, General Catalyst, and Insight Partners LP.

Founded in 2019, Onebrief offers collaborative software designed to enhance military operational planning by employing real-time, AI-assisted workflows. The platform modernizes traditional military planning tools, enabling faster preparation of operational strategies and enhancing decision-making across scattered teams and varied command levels. Integration of Battle Road’s technology into Onebrief’s platform is expected to bolster its simulation capabilities, aimed at providing military commanders with enhanced tools for mission planning and strategic analysis.

Battle Road Digital, established in 2021, developed AtomEngine, a cloud-native simulation platform. AtomEngine allows for comprehensive modeling of environments, supporting extensive wargaming, mission planning, and training exercises. The platform excels in simulating complex tactical and operational scenarios, offering real-time interaction capabilities that complement existing command-and-control systems. Josh Henderson, founder of Battle Road, highlighted the synergy between the two companies, noting the enhanced ability to transition from high-fidelity simulations to live operations.
