Actis acquires 800 Super
Actis has finalized the acquisition of a 90% stake in 800 Super, a prominent Singaporean environmental management company, for $1.7 billion. This transaction is part of Actis' strategy to expand its investment in sustainable infrastructure across growth markets, deploying a significant portion of its Long Life Infrastructure Fund 2 (ALLIF2), now approximately 70% invested. The deal underscores Actis' commitment to assets with long-term revenue streams, given 800 Super’s solid position in handling public cleaning, waste management, and recycling services in Singapore.
800 Super derives a substantial portion of its earnings from long-term contracts with the Singaporean government, benefiting from the country's stable sovereign credit ratings. The company is a key figure in Singapore’s infrastructure landscape, being one of only three licensed municipal solid waste and integrated public cleaning service providers nationwide. Its strong foothold makes it pivotal to Singapore's ambition to deliver on its 2030 Zero Waste Masterplan, encapsulating significant market opportunities within the circular economy framework.
The acquisition is portrayed by William Lee, the Founder and CEO of 800 Super, as a strategic step for the company. Lee highlighted the potential to tap into Actis’ expertise in constructing and managing critical infrastructure, which is expected to enhance 800 Super’s competitive edge and operational performance. By aligning with Actis, 800 Super aims to innovate further and provide substantial value to its clients and partners.
With this investment, Actis’ total capital allocation in Southeast Asia reaches $1.7 billion, marking a series of significant investments in the region. Actis has been channeling funds into sectors such as energy, digital infrastructure, and real estate, aligning with Southeast Asia's infrastructure demand and growth prospects. Previous investments include notable projects like MTerra Solar, Epoch Digital, and Levanta Renewables.
Looking ahead, the focus will be on how effectively Actis can integrate and optimize 800 Super within its broader infrastructure portfolio. As Actis continues to consolidate its presence in Southeast Asia, the industry will be keenly observing for any shifts in strategy or further investments that may emerge in alignment with evolving market needs and sustainability goals.
